Rated 5 out of 5 by Jakob from Best buy in a long time. I am the happy owner of a Barbour Beaufort. But in wet weather it sometimes felt a bit short. So I went through the options from Outdoor and Country and decided to buy the Northumbria. And a brilliant decision it was. The weather in Denmark has been wet for a month and this jacket is just made for this. It is a pleasure to wear it every day. Best buy in years. As usual good help and advise from Outdoor and Country staff through mail correspondance. And as usual fast delivery.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Arch51 from Not great in foul weather I have 2 Northumbria jackets and they are O.K. as a waterproof when the rain is not torrential, when worn in sustained periods of rain the jackets are liable to becoming very stiff, particularly in cold wet weather, and not very comfortable. I also found that the shoulders are prone to leaking moisture through. The hood is next to useless as it constantly detaches from the four push studs and I have lost one that was pulled off in heavy cover. I have waxed these coats several times and now thinking about changing to a more efficient waterproof brand.

I wear a 44 inch chest suit/jacket. Please advise what size Northumbria jacket would be appropriate to wear OVER such a normal wool suit/jacket? Additionally, may I purchase over the internet? I live in Jersey and cannot find anywhere that stocks these
Go a size larger. I had to return and re- order.

Hi I'm 6ft.16st with 48/50 chest what would be best size in an International for me? Many thanks for all help
Hello there, having once briefly owned an 'off the peg' Barbour International jacket myself, I think it's fair to say that the International jackets generally speaking are of a more tailored-cut and can therefore be a bit on the snug side, fit-wise. You may therefore wish to consider choosing the next size up when you place your order. I hope my impartial advice has helped you. Best Regards.

Hi ,im 6ft 3 and a 44 inch chest, what size would you recomend for a barbour northumbria jacket?
Luckily for you at 6' 3 inches tall, the Northumbria is an especially wise choice, as among all of the Barbour 'Classic' range of jackets, it is one of longest if not the longest one. Only the Border jacket (the lighter weight fabric version of the Northumbria), is as long. Chest size-wise, as the 'Classic' range are of the typical, dependable, more traditional Barbour cut/styling, they have an inbuilt large size tolerance to allow for winter layering so they're always nice and roomy and also allow for ample freedom of movement. I think some folks refer to any roomy garment (like the Northumbria for instance) as "running large" size-wise. Personally in the near 40 years I've worn Barbour jackets, I've owned a total of 3x Northumbria jackets among a good few of the others in what is now termed as the 'Classic' range. I really can heartily recommend the Northumbria to you.

Just a question about sizing. Normally I'm a 44 inch chest. With the Northumbria, I'd be wearing a liner and a jumper in the cold I have a New Utility size L. It's 10 years old and is just big enough. Do you think I'd have a problem with size 44?
Thank you for your question and interest in our products, We can confirm that the size 44 offers a chest measurement of 54" | 137.2 cm. We would recommend comparing the approximate garment measurements listed under the 'Product Measurements' tab against a current jacket that you find fits well. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly if you require any further assistance.
