Kids’ Hunter boots offer everything a parent could want in a pair of wellies: cuteness, comfort and support. The little bones in our children’s feet continue to grow until well into their late teens, so it’s important to find a great fitting pair of kids’ wellies. Even if they’re only going to be worn at the weekend, an ill-fitting pair of shoes can be detrimental to little feet- just think of the pain you’ve had as an adult from poorly fitting shoes! If you’re thinking of investing in a pair of children’s Hunter rain boots, then keep on reading for our guide to fit, size and style.
Kids’ Hunter Wellies: which is best for my child?
Hunter Original Kid’s Wellington Boots
Handmade and 100% waterproof, the Kids’ Original boot features many of the same design details as the adults’ Original Tall welly. The sole is cleated, and features a zig-zag grip, making it perfect for trudging through the mud. The foot itself is extremely flexible, and there is a small arched incline leading to a small heel; the insole can be removed and replaced with fleeced or orthopaedic insoles These boots feature a rounded toe with the iconic ‘Hunter moustache’, and a reinforced heel and leg support. The rubber around the leg is stiffer to provide more support, but cannot be adjusted to accommodate wider calves or snow suits. Along the back of the boot, there are two reflectors for extra safety.
Best for: Older children, general day-to-day wear, walking.
Hunter Original Davison Wellington Boots
The Hunter Davison Boots are incredibly versatile and flexible with a wide range of durable and practical features. The leg is super flexible, and you are able to adjust the calf width, so they can easily accommodate wider legs or thicker trousers. These boots are ideal for children who are harder on their shoes, as they feature a reinforced rubber bumper toe. To the back of the boot, there is a stiffened leg and heel support, and reflectors so that your child will always be seen in the dark. The sole is flat, with a zig-zag grip and a slight heel to the back. The sole is removable so will therefore accommodate orthopaedic insoles, and the foot itself is soft and flexible. So your little ones can easily pull on and remove the shoes themselves, there is a pull tab to the back and a kick spur on the heel.
Best for: all ages, general day-to-day wear, children who are heavy on their shoes.
Hunter Kids First Gloss Wellington Boots
These Hunter wellies are available in the smallest age range, starting at a UK size 4 (EU 21). The First Gloss wellies are especially flexible for little legs, and feature a bumper all around the base of the foot. The back of the boot does not feature reflectors, but is reinforced for extra support, and has a wider calf fitting. The sole is flat so as to not unnaturally bend tiny feet, and the base of the boot has a very slight heeled incline for extra grip. For safety, the sole has been moulded to a zig-zag shape for extra grip on slippy surfaces.
Best for: toddlers and younger children, splashing in puddles or at the beach.
