Since the company was formed back in 1894, Barbour’s tartans have stood strong; not only are they the foundation of many collections bearing their names, but all of the iconic Barbour jackets feature an individual tartan to their lining. Often redesigned, recoloured and resized to stay on top of current fashion trends, the Classic Tartan is by and large Barbour’s most loved tartan, with rich green, red and gold shades all running through, this striking print features across shirts, jackets, bags and accessories to bring that quintessential Barbour look to the town or country. So what can we expect from this range this season? We asked Barbour who gave us the lowdown…

“For men, jackets take a smart cleaner silhouette with a subtle use of tartan for a modern, contemporary look. Tweed knits, overlaid fabrics and Teflon wools create knitwear that is great to layer up. Shades of olive, navy and grey tartans contrast beautifully with this season’s key highlight colour of burnt orange.” Our standout pieces include the Abbeystead Jacket, which is great for the winter months, and when worn with the Dean Crew it’s the perfect cold weather combination. The Barbour Lustleigh Shirt is a great option for autumn/winter, and we especially love the Forest shade for a rich, festive look.

“For ladies this season, the traditional tartan check has been reinterpreted in smaller and larger sizes for an elegant look. Outerwear showcases new feminine silhouettes with beautiful wool coats alongside stylish waxes and quilts with faux fur collars. Colour palettes are dominated by navy and garnet and a beautiful emerald green.” We love the way the tartan print flatters all shapes and sizes, and the varied designs mean you can choose from a striking all over tartan dress, or add just a pop of this classic print with the addition of a handbag, or jacket trim!
