Our Team Raise Money for Cancer Research UK
The Outdoor & Country team has been working hard over the last couple of months, trying to raise money for a great cause, Cancer Research UK. Next month, ten of our employees will be climbing the tallest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis and have been eagerly raising sponsorship money from friends and family ahead of the big day. We have all come together to make the 1,344 meter ascent to the top simply because cancer has affected each one of us through family or friends and this is a great way to support the fight against the disease. Cancer Research UK has helped to develop some of the most important life saving drugs and funds over half of the UK’s cancer research.
Apart from rallying our loved ones to donate to the cause, our team successfully put on a fund raising weekend at the Marquis pub, Staffordshire, between the 23rd and 26th of August. We even had Super Man and Super Woman taking donations in the town centre! The event was a great success and the bank holiday weekend of activities culminated with some superb goodies being raffled off. Overall, we were able to raise £867.14 from the bank holiday weekend and we’d like to thank everyone who was involved. Because of the success of this fundraiser, we plan on holding another event in Staffordshire soon to help us get to our target.
With the climb fast approaching, our team’s attention has turned to making the last push for donations, as well as getting a bit of fitness training in. We are going to venture to the top of Ben Nevis on the 12th of October and need all the help that we can get. We have set our target at £2000 and hope that, with your generosity, we can reach and surpass our goal to support Cancer Research UK in the fight against cancer. All expenses will be paid for out of our own money, so anything you donate will go to Cancer Research and not to funding the event.
