As well as a range of different products, Barbour has developed a number of different types of waxed materials.Thornproof wax, which is available in a tin for personal application<\/a>, is a medium weight and durable waxed cotton, originally designed to protect the wearer from thorns and brambles. Antique wax is also a medium weight wax, however it has been heavily calendered, a process during production which folds the material in half and passes it through rollers at a high temperature. The result is a lustrous and glossy finish that’s designed to change character with wear. Another waxed cotton commonly used by Barbour is Sylkoil Wax, boasting a soft matte texture and natural imperfections of weave.
