This year Joules are celebrating their 30th<\/sup>\nbirthday and having been part of their story for nearly 10 years, Outdoor and\nCountry wanted to find out a little bit more about the people behind the iconic\ndesigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each season Joules create new styles that feel fresh and new\nwhilst being instantly recognisable through their bold prints and colour\npalettes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outdoor and Country caught up with Cat Doolan, part of the\nJoules design team, to find out what goes on behind the scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: What is your role in the design team at Joules?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am a member of the Menswear design team. I work across all\nproducts from coats to underwear, so quite a mix of products!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself…<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am a very proud Yorkshire girl and find a lot of joy from\na good cup of tea! I\u2019m an avid crafter so can often be found trying to learn\nnew skills from knitting and felting to DIY around my house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. What\u2019s your favourite thing about working at Joules?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joules is known for a sense of fun, and this definitely\nshows within the people that we work with. There is a real family feel and\neverybody is very approachable. There is also always a great supply of cake and\ntreats within the building!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: What does a typical day look like for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No day is really the same, I could be researching and\nsketching for new season or reviewing our latest samples. I love the variety!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: Where do you draw inspiration from?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can come from absolutely anywhere! Our teams travel far\nand wide collecting inspiration from books, vintage archives and print\nlibraries to offer new and interesting products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q. What kind of research goes into designing the prints each season?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are very lucky to have a wonderful and very talented\nin-house print team. Most days they can be found drawing and painting the\ndifferent elements that go into their beautiful artworks. They travel through\nmany British locations from the Scottish Highlands to Kew Gardens as\ninspiration for their artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: What makes the Joules so special?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, Joules is all about fun, colour and quality. It is\nthe bright and bold use of colour and print that means you can spot a Joules\ngarment in a crowd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: What can we expect to see from Joules next?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
