Dressing women who defy convention has always been the Barbour way. From appointing a female Chairman in the 60s to manufacturing the jacket of choice for the only woman to win the International Six Day Trials (twice!), Barbour International leads the way in designing clothes that don’t conform. Committed to creating high quality
Duncan Barbour’s passion for motorcycling was the driving force behind the original International Suit way back in 1936. The practical, weatherproof design soon became the blue print for motorcycle jackets the world over. However imitable, no other jacket could live up to the high-quality, multi-functional International jacket which was adopted by 97% of the riders in the International Six Day Trials in 1957. Olga Kevelos, the only woman to ever win two gold medals in the ISDT events competed every race in her Barbour International, along with the iconic Steve McQueen who competed in a Barbour in 1964.
Never one to be left behind, Barbour International continued to revitalise the clothing worn by motorcyclists by taking advantage of advances in technology. In 1964, they released the Black Streak PVC suit from the then new, strong and pliable black PVC material. With a fleece lining, the Black Streak jacket continued to stand head and shoulders above the competition.
Forever moving forward with their on-trend yet practical designs, the Barbour International SS16 collection features luxurious leather jackets and relaxed jeans that exude effortless spring style, and when the weather gets warmer, the lightweight, edgy t-shirts and loose dresses will make a statement in your summer wardrobe.
