What To Wear To The Henley Regatta
The Henley Regatta draws in boaties from all over the globe to cheer on the rowing teams of the world’s most celebrated institutions. Come rain or shine, there’s one thing you can always be sure of at Henley: the styles of traditional boating clothing will dazzle and delight.
From brilliant stripes to straw boaters, you can spot a Henley go-er a (nautical) mile away. But if you didn’t join the rowing club at school or university and your wardrobe is missing a coveted striped blazer, then take a look over our men’s regatta inspired look book for a little inspiration…
A ticket for the Stewards’ Enclosure means a blazer and tie is an absolute must as guests are required to abide by the strict dress code. Keeping cool in the middle of summer while wearing a blazer is no mean feat, so if the forecast is looking good then make sure you opt for one of our linen or cotton jackets, like the Rodd & Gunn Cascades Jacket.
Shirts should be cool, comfortable and crisper than a winter’s morning. Stripes are a rower’s favourite, especially in these gorgeous summer pastel shades. Alternatively, switch up the pattern with a classic country check from Schöffel.
Jeans and shorts are forbidden in the Stewards’ Enclosure, but a pair of classic tan or navy chino trousers offers the perfect traditional look for this historic event.
Set your outfit off with the perfect accessories; a tie is compulsory in the Stewards’ Enclosure, while a nautical inspired belt will ensure you look neat and polished all day long. A classic summer hat will then add a retro British touch while also offering some sun protection.
Finally, there’s no other shoe to be seen in at a regatta than a boat shoe or loafer, and these styles are the perfect accent to your Henley Regatta attire.
While the Stewards’ Enclosure retains a strict dress code, other Regatta viewing areas are much more relaxed. However, you may as well take the opportunity to dress up, wear your best, and enhance your enjoyment of the day.
