1. Premium Materials
Firstly, as with many Fairfax & Favor handbags, the Windsor Basket Bag is available in full size and mini versions. I chose the full size bag as I wanted one to use for days out which has plenty of storage space. However, the miniature version contains all the same features as the full size.
The high-summer style of the Windsor Basket Bag is what initially caught my eye, as it has a traditional beach bag feel and design that instantly transports you to the seafront with a picnic and deck chairs in tow. However, it’s the quality and feel of the materials which truly made me fall in love with it. The tan leather that makes up the bag’s trims, base and handles is a Fairfax & Favor staple, both beautifully soft and of the same high quality that we expect from this luxury brand. Meanwhile, the main outer body is a woven canvas fabric which gives the bag a lightweight feel, as well as that vintage wicker basket appearance.
2. Practical Features
The Windsor Basket Bag features sturdy leather carry handles which are large enough to sit comfortably over your shoulder. However, the bag also comes with an adjustable strap which you can attach or remove as you prefer. I’ve found that the shoulder handles are enough for me with the larger bag, but of course it’s always great to have the choice!
The bag also shares the gold studded base found on other Fairfax & Favor handbags. I found this to be an invaluable feature during a trip to Norfolk as it meant I was able to put the bag down on the floor and pub tables without worrying about getting the base dirty.
Inside the Windsor Basket Bag you will find one large compartment and a secure zipped pocket attached to the side. The storage space provided by the full size bag is incredible! I could easily fit everything I needed for a day out in the main compartment. The structure of the bag holds its shape really well too, meaning that your belongings are held in place without falling around the bag.
The zipped pocket is also quite large, with plenty of space to securely hold my phone, card holders, and other smaller items I didn’t want to have to root around in the main compartment for. The microfibre lining on the inside of the bag is an added bonus, with a suede-like finish for added softness.
3. Fairfax & Favor Styling
The Windsor Basket Bag is unmistakeably created by Fairfax & Favor. A removeable tassel sits in pride of place at the front of the bag, obviously referencing the iconic boot tassels. You could switch this tassel for a coloured one, but I personally like the matching shades of tan. The gold Fairfax & Favor shield logo is the eye-catching focus of the bag at the centre of the tassel, along with the gold branding on the leather strap.
In conclusion, I think this is the perfect handbag for summer days and evenings. It has a sturdy bucket shaped structure but still feels delicate and lightweight, with a feminine appearance that is ideal for pairing with your favourite floaty sun dress and wedges. The tan colourway also naturally lends itself to easy styling. I love showing the Windsor Basket Bag off, as it feels like a really special possession.
